The View

I came across this drawing, hadn't seen it in a long time and it brought back memories. This was one of my first jobs. I was hired to help put a catalog together of some things I never thought I'd ever be drawing, let alone get paid to draw. Things like tanks, pontoons, old army jackets, mysterious looking pieces of large machinery. It was kind of fun, but not a long time career choice.
Anyway, this was my view and I drew it one day when not much was going on. It was all good but I much prefer the views I've had since becoming a free lancer.

Spring Frogs

Spring at my house means Frogs. There must be millions of them outside our window at night singing their little hearts out!! I love it.

The Plan

I started this blog with the intention of relating my experiences as an artist who began her career when there was NO computer art. I thought I'd let you know how long it took to even get used to the idea that an artist could use a computer as a TOOL. I certainly wasn't going to have one. I clearly remember the day I knew it was getting seriously close to changing that. I'd designed a logo for a horse boarding ranch. One of the younger boarders wanted to put it on a flag, so she asked me what "program" I used. I had no idea what she was talking about and she had no clue what I was talking about when I told her I did it with a Rapidograph pen. I suddenly realized I was an - Elder Artist.
Having a computer has been both wonderful and terrible. I can not tell you how many times my computer has come close to being upside down on my front lawn. I am slowly, slowly learning (sometimes against my will) to use it. I'm still using my pens, pencils, paint brushes, ink & water colors. It's SO much more fun! Anyway, that's what I was planning on blogging about.

Good Deals!

Estate sales are weird. You can just walk into a stranger's house and go through their stuff. Sometimes you can find some pretty cool things, especially if the previous owner was an artist.
The best places are the ones with a good view of the River - I spend more time looking out the windows while my husband looks for treasures. I often wonder if any former occupants are there watching us. So far there hasn't been a sign of one.

First Blog!

You never forget your first Blog! It's just special. But it's a whole lot easier the first time if you have a good teacher. So I'm dedicating this one to my son who taught me how to blog! I understand blogging isn't a one time thing- it's a commitment, one I intend to keep,(at least for now.)
